So, I was exercising this morning and this thought popped into my head. "You have the right to write, right?" I got to thinking about Julia Cameron's book, "The Right to Write." When I finished with my morning routine, I pulled out her book and perused the first part of it and found some great quotes. These reminded me of some other things that I have read recently and they were good for me to read, so I decided to share. Because, as Julia says, we all have the right to write.
From her book: "We should write, above all, because we are writers whether we call ourselves writers or not." and "Higher forces speak to us through writing."
Also, from scripture: ". . . speak the thoughts that I shall put into your hearts, and you shall not be confounded . . . for it shall be given you in the very hour, yea, in the very moment, what ye shall say."
What do you say about writer's block now, eh?
Wow, way to tie in the scriptures! I'd never thought of it in quite that way. Love Julia Cameron. She's so quotable and it's all so true. Thanks for sharing. I needed the boost!
ReplyDeleteWow, I've never thought of that scripture that way before. That is so great. That is the definitely a cure for the fear that causes writers block. That is going to change the way I approach writing.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the quotes.
Thanks for the post Shari! I needed to read that.
ReplyDeleteHey Shari! Thanks for sharing the great quotes. I like the title to your blog too. :)
ReplyDeleteThere's a place in the scriptures that also says we shall be judged out of the books which are written! Jesus Christ, when he visited the Nephites, asked to see the books - and when some that should have been written hadn't been, he commanded that they should be. So if writing is a God-given talent or desire, and we aren't magnifying that talent - will He ask us why we haven't written them?
