Bloodborne

I recently read BLOODBORNE by Gregg Luke.

From the back cover:

One ordinary afternoon, research specialist Dr. Erin Cross steps into a local deli to get some lunch and nearly takes a bullet instead. Thanks to timely intervention from a former Marine, she walks away from the seemingly freak incident. But when she returns to find her lab under security lockdown and her apartment ransacked, she realizes the attack was anything but random. Erin can't make sense of the threat, given her low profile after a disastrous H1N1 vaccine trial. She doesn't know that her former colleague has used the virus to develop a potent bioweapon or that her recent research holds a key to his success. And she doesn't know that his collaborators want her dead before she blows the whistle.

She flees for her life with the help of Sean Flannery, the former Marine, who is the only person she dares trust. But, can she really trust him? And what will happen when those searching for her actually find her?

I was definitely hooked from the first page. I mean, when you get a text message during lunch telling you that you are about to die, that's pretty gripping. The book continued to deliver action and suspense. There was intrigue and questions of who to trust. I enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it to others. If you want to know who she can really trust, you'll just have to go get the book and read it yourself.

You can purchase BLOODBORNE here. Also, you should go check him out here.

  11. Hi,

Thanks for stopping by my blog to introduce yourself. There's been so much going on lately blog wise I haven't made it round to all fellow campaigners, yet.

This sounds like riveting plot. Nothing like a good woman jeopardy novel! ;)

  12. ooo sounds gripping! I love that! Also i read your previous post on the IWSG and I agree... I tend to beat myself up sometimes for not getting in more writing. But seriously, we can only do what we can do. It's not like we have nothing to do but write. Can you imagine??? I wonder if we'd still be as creative if our lives weren't so full.

  15. Hi Shari! Thanks for taking the time to tell us about this book. It's great to hear your take on it.

I'm a fellow campaigner in the mainstream/ contemporary category. I’m chagrined it's taken me so long to get over here - my last post leaned more towards fantasy/YA - that's what I'm writing at the moment.
But my first book that I'm going to be querying as soon as beta readers go over it once more is mainstream - I think. I'm having trouble figuring out just where it belongs. It's not in an exact genre. I'm so glad to meet you.

I love how you said in your profile that you're an appreciater of all things beautiful. I think that's a rare thing since people are so busy - they live their lives without seeing the beauty all around them. How marvelous that you do that! And hey! I'm a writing ninja too - awesome!
